My homemade sambal turned out too spicy??

Guys, yesterday I tried making my own sambal to go with my omelette?? My intention was to make a not-too-spicy version but it still turned out super spicy lol. Maybe too many chilies, I'm not good at measuring yet. Anyone got tips for making sambal taste good without making me cry?? Because I'm the type who can't handle spice but still wants to try cooking sambal myself.
