Sweet braised black beans (kongjang) recipe?

Hi everyone, I just watched another Korean drama and the family dinner table had this little side dish of shiny black beans, so pretty and glossy! I asked my mom and she said it might be kongjang but we are not sure how to get that sweet glossy sauce right. My kids love sweet side dishes so I really want to try making a big batch for our family meals after my night shifts. Does anyone have a simple recipe with the right sugar and soy sauce ratio, maybe something a bit sweeter since we Filipinos really love our sweets?
